ITVX when you’re away from the UK

This guide is for people who live in the UK and are on holiday or away for a while. ITVX checks where your internet connection appears to be. Outside the UK, it says you can only watch in the UK. With Stealthy PRO’s United Kingdom location, your browser appears in the UK.

Watch in your browser with Stealthy PRO

1. Get Stealthy for your browser.
2. Start the 3-day free trial, or sign in once with your PRO login in the Stealthy panel. In Firefox, sign in in Stealthy’s Settings.
3. Pick UK under Location.
4. Open ITVX and sign in with your ITVX account.

Already have PRO? If the panel shows a note, choose Switch to United Kingdom: it picks UK and reloads the page. On the free location with no saved login, the note offers a 3-day free trial instead. You can turn these tips off in Settings.

Adverts: ITVX’s own adverts still play with Block ads and trackers on. In our check on 12 October 2026, an on-demand programme played with the switch on and with it off.

Apps and TVs: the ITVX app doesn’t use the browser extension. For apps, use PRO’s VPN with uk.stealthy.co (set it up). TVs connect through a router (Help).

“Outside the UK?”: checklist

Outside the UK, ITVX shows:

Outside the UK? Due to our broadcast and content licences, you can only watch ITVX in the UK. If you’re still having problems visit our ITVX help page.

The error code on that message is ITV-1T-101. Work through these in order:

1. Is Stealthy on, and on UK? Open the panel: it should say United Kingdom.
2. Was your PRO sign-in refused? If the panel says your PRO sign-in failed, fix your login in Settings, then pick UK again.
3. Does the panel say PRO location unavailable, and that you’re on the free location? Wait a few minutes, then pick UK again. (This message appears in Chrome, Edge and Opera.)
4. Does it say “United Kingdom is unavailable right now; you’re connected through ...”? Stealthy connected you through another PRO location. Try UK again in a few minutes.
5. Is another VPN or proxy running? Turn it off. See Help: the wrong location shows.
6. Are you in the ITVX app? The app doesn’t use the extension. Use ITVX in the browser, or PRO’s VPN.
7. Reload the tab, or turn Stealthy off and on again, then reload.
8. Sign out of ITVX, clear ITV’s cookies, and sign in again. See Help: a TV service won’t play.
9. Turn Block ads and trackers off and reload, to rule it out.
10. Still stuck? Visit Help.

Questions

Can I watch ITVX abroad with ITVX Premium?

ITV says ITVX and ITVX Premium can only be used in the UK. For Premium subscribers, ITV says:

If you’re an ITVX Premium subscriber and you’re travelling abroad on holiday, you can download most shows to your phone or tablet via our Android and iOS apps to watch anywhere offline.

Just make sure you download the show while you’re still in the UK, and your download will be available to watch for up to 7 days.

Please note that downloads are subject to licensing restrictions and limited to mobile versions of ITVX.

Does the ITVX app use Stealthy?
